EU continues to insist on Savchenko release - diplomat
MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - The head of the Delegation of the European Union to Russia Vygaudas Usackas has reaffirmed the EU position calling for the release of the Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko, held in custody in Russia.
"From the start, we have been calling for Savchenko's release and return home," he said on the Ekho Moskvy radio station on Friday.
Brussels firmly sticks to the position that Savchenko was held in Ukraine illegally and was subsequently sent to Russia, Usackas said.
