Lavrov: Agreement reached on first stage in heavy arms pullout marks important progress

PARIS. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The militia and the Ukrainian military's agreement over the first stage in a heavy weapons pullout has marked important progress, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"Information arrived when we were in Paris discussing what was going on, that local representatives of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics and the Ukrainian military had reached an agreement on a plan for the first stage in heavy weaponry pullout. If this information is confirmed, it will be a sign of important progress, I think," Lavrov told the media after talks between the Normandy Quartet foreign ministers.
