X5 to open at least 900 Pyaterochka stores in 2015, complete rebuilding chain in 2016

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Feb 27 (Interfax) - X5 Retail Group plans to open at least as many of the Pyaterochka discounter stores this year as it did in 2014 and expects to complete the renovation of older stores in the chain in 2016, Olga Naumova, the general director of the Pyaterochka chain, told journalists on Friday.

"We plan to fully complete the renovation program at the end of 2016," she said.

Since the program began in October 2013, about 600 Pyaterochka stores have been renovated, including about 500 last year.

Asked by an Interfax correspondent how many stores would be renovated in 2015, Naumova said half of the stores still awaiting renovation would be renovated in 2015 and the other half in 2016.

Including new stores, currently about one-third of the stores in the Pyaterochka chain are operating under the format.

X5 plans to open over 900 Pyaterochka stores in 2015.
