AgMin expecting grain harvest in Russia of up to 100 mln tonnes in 2015
MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - The Agriculture Ministry is forecasting a grain harvest in Russia at up to 100 million tonnes in 2015, Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov said.
"For the year we are expecting up to 100 million tonnes of grain," Fyodorov said at a meeting with the president and government members.
"We have good news that the extent of the winter crop areas that was damaged in the autumn has decreased. There's in improvement of 400,000 for the Southern Federal District, which means more than 2 million tonnes of additional grain," he said.
"So far we have grounds to asses the situation [with the harvest] for the year as satisfactory," he said.
