Cargo container may take Sarah Brightman's place aboard Soyuz

MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax-AVN) - A container with supplies may take singer Sarah Brightman's place onboard Russia's Soyuz TMA-18M spaceship, which is expected to head to the International Space Station (ISS) on September 1, former Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalyov, who today holds the post of first deputy director of manned space missions at the Central Research Institute of Machine Building, told Interfax-AVN.

"There are several options as to how to fill the seat onboard the Soyuz TMA-18M spaceship that has become vacant after Sarah Brightman refused to fly. The most simple and prompt solution would be to install a cargo container aboard the spacecraft. This is increasingly relevant given the recent loss of the Progress re-supply ship," Krikalyov said when commenting on Brightman's decision not to take a trip to the ISS on September 1.
