Parliament delegation led by Naryshkin to visit South Korea, Japan
MOSCOW. May 18 (Interfax) - State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin is going on a visit to South Korea and Japan on Monday.
"I intend to have frank and substantive discussions of the entire range of issues, both bilateral and global. I am confident that every event and meeting we have planned will be constructive," Naryshkin said before his trip.
Russian parliamentarians have a lot of interesting matters to discuss with Korean and Japanese partners, he said. "Parliament cooperation remains a major factor of interstate relations," he added.
The official visit to South Korea on May 19 will comprise of negotiations with National Assembly Speaker Jeong Ui-hwa, a meeting with Korean businessmen and a roundtable dedicated to historical and cultural dimensions of Russia-South Korea relations, says a report posted on the State Duma website.
Naryshkin will pay a visit to Japan on May 20-21 to meet with House of Councilors President Masaaki Yamazaki and House of Representatives Speaker Tadamori Oshima.
Bloomberg said last Friday, quoting a source of the Kyodo news agency, that Naryshkin might meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo.
A preliminary program of the visit distributed amongst Russian delegation members said that a meeting between Naryshkin and Abe was 'possible', a delegation member told Interfax.
