Dixy boosts revenue 20.4% in May

MOSCOW. June 16 (Interfax) - The revenue of Dixy rose by 20.4% year-on-year in May to 23.4 billion rubles, the company said in a statement.

In comparison with April, when Dixy's sales increased by 20.5%, in May, growth slowed slightly.

For the 5M, the company's revenue rose by 24.6% to 108.4 billion rubles.

Sales at Dixy neighborhood stores rose 23.2% in May year-on-year to 18.97 billion rubles (22.6% more than in April). Sales in January-May rose 27.6% year-on-year to 87.26 billion rubles.

Revenue at supermarkets in the Victoria division rose 10.4% in May to 2.22 billion rubles and were up 15.1% to 11.07 billion rubles in 5M. Sales in the compact hypermarkets Megamart and Minimart division were up 8.9% to 1.61 billion rubles in May and up 11% to 7.46 billion rubles in January-May.

Dixy opened a net total of 215 new stores in the five months, all Dixy neighborhood stores, including 40 in May. The company opened 76 stores in January-May 2014, including 33 in May.

Selling space increased 26% to 809,730 square meters, including 664,092 square meters for neighborhood stores, 30% more.

Dixy manages Dixy neighborhood stores and the Minimart and Megamart compact hypermarkets. In June 2011, Dixy purchased the Victoria Group, which includes the Victoria supermarkets, the Kvartal, Deshevo and Semeynaya Kopilka discount stores, and the CASH cash & carry store.

The chain included 2,410 stores as of the end of May, including 2,280 neighborhood stores, 48 Victoria supermarkets and 35 hypermarkets.

Dixy targets revenue to rise 20%-25% in 2015. It plans to open a net total of 500 stores.

The leader on the Russian retail market, Magnit , which, like Dixy discloses monthly sales figures, boosted revenue 28.7% in May year-on-year, the same percentage growth as in April.
