Two recruiters to intl terrorist organizations killed in Nazran - National Antiterrorist Center
NAZRAN. June 25 (Interfax) - Two people suspected of belonging to illegal armed groups and recruiting other people to international terrorist organizations were killed in a special operation in Nazran, Ingushetia, on Thursday, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) said in an official statement.
"FSB [Federal Security Service] and Interior Ministry units blockaded a house on Buzurtanov Street in Nazran where the thugs stayed. In response to the demand that they lay down their arms and surrender to the authorities, the fighters staying in the house used a grenade and opened fire at the security forces. As a result of a quick battle, two militants were neutralized. A pistol with ammunition and a suicide belt strapped to the body of one of those killed were found while the house was being searched," the NAC said.
The neutralized militants have yet to be identified, and the necessary investigative procedures are being conducted at the scene of the special operation, the NAC said.
None of local residents or security forces' members who conducted the operation was harmed. The operational headquarters of Ingushetia has decided to lift the restrictions related to the counterterrorist operation imposed on part of Nazran on Wednesday morning.
Security agencies had earlier received information on the presence of individuals recruiting people to terrorist organizations in a private house in Nazran.
Security forces had told Interfax earlier that a man and a woman who offered armed resistance to federal forces were killed in a special operation in Nazran.
