Moscow confirms invitation to king of Saudi Arabia to visit Russia - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has confirmed that King of Saudi Arabia Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has been invited to visit Russia.

"We have confirmed the invitation that [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin forwarded to the king of Saudi Arabia to visit the Russian Federation when it is most convenient to him," he told a press conference after talks with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir in Moscow.

Lavrov also said he was convinced that such a visit would give a fresh impetus to the two countries' partnership in all areas.

The Russian minister also said that today's talks in Moscow addressed the current state of bilateral relations, which received a powerful impetus during the visit to Russia by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman in June.

"We exchanged opinions on steps that need to be taken to implement the agreements reached during that visit, including in areas such as energy, civilian nuclear technologies, investment cooperation, joint projects in agriculture and civilian construction," Lavrov said.
