Russian Foreign Ministry hopes Poroshenko tells UN General Assembly about violations of rights in southeastern Ukraine

MOSCOW. Sept 21 (Interfax) - Moscow is expecting Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to tell the UN General Assembly about the human rights situation in Donbas, the Russian Foreign Ministry has said.

"Hopefully, Mr. Poroshenko will tell the world about human rights violations in Crimea as soon as he finishes his hour-long confession about violations of human rights in Donbas," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova wrote on Facebook on Monday.

Poroshenko had said in an interview with Ukrainian television channels that he intended to highlight "infringement of rights of Crimean Tatars" at the UN General Assembly session.

"Protection of rights of the Crimean Tatar people, harassment of representatives of the Crimean Tatar people in Crimea - I will raise these issues at the UN General Assembly session in New York next week," the president said.

Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern about the human rights situation in southeastern Ukraine.
