Moscow wants to understand Gulf States' concerns over Syria operation - Lavrov

NEW YORK. Oct 1 (Interfax) - Russia is going to clarify the concerns the Arab nations in the Gulf region have about its military operation in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

On Thursday he is meeting with his counterparts from the Gulf States.

"I hope we will discuss where we stand in terms of our bilateral relationships and regional issues. We want to understand your concerns," the minister said

A day earlier Russia launched a military operation against Islamic State in Syria. Most Arab countries in the Gulf region favor Bashar al-Assad's retreat from power.
