Russian warplanes destroy IS command post in Idlib Governorate - Defense Ministry
MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax) - A pinpoint airstrike delivered by Russian frontline bombers destroyed an Islamic State camouflaged command post in the Idlib Governorate in Syria, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told journalists on Saturday.
"Using several channels, our reconnaissance identified a camouflaged command post to handle gangs in a mountainous forested area in the Idlib Governorate. After analyzing space images of this area and conducting aerial reconnaissance using unmanned aerial vehicles, a pinpoint airstrike was delivered upon this site," Konashenkov said.
Readout data confirmed the destruction of protective installations where the command post was arranged and three vehicles belonging to the gunmen, he said.
"A Su-24M plane delivered a strike upon a military hardware base belonging to militants near the community of Al Qaysar, the Aleppo Governorate. A direct hit destroyed more than 10 pieces of hardware, including two tanks and five infantry fighting vehicles. A fire started, and the shelters where the vehicles were kept were fully destroyed," Konashenkov said.
