Russia urges all external players to facilitate inter-Syrian dialogue - Lavrov

SOCHI. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Moscow is calling on all external players to facilitate the launch of inter-Syrian dialogue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

"We are in principle calling for all external players, which have influence over these or other Syrian political forces, to facilitate swift launch of the common Syrian dialogue," he said after a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Saudi defense minister.

Moscow "is especially keen on cooperation in this matter with an important regional country such as Saudi Arabia," he said.

"Today the Russian president specifically touched on this topic by calling for our cooperation in this specific area to be as substantive as possible and relevant agreements to be reached. We reaffirmed our understanding of the concerns Saudi Arabia has about the targets being hit by the Russian military in Syria," the minister said

The Russian Air Force is targeting ISIL and other terrorist groups in Syria, he said.
