Six parties win Kyrgyz parliamentary elections, pro-presidential Social Democratic Party ranks first - final election report

BISHKEK. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Six parties have won the election of Kyrgyzstan's Zhogorku Kenesh (parliament), yet neither of them has gained an absolute majority of votes, Kyrgyz Central Election Commission Chairman Tuigunaly Abdraimov said.

The Social Democratic Party led by Almazbek Atambayev before his election for president ranked first with 27.56 % of the vote, Abdraimov said at a meeting of the Kyrgyz Central Election Commission while summing up the final results of the election.

The opposition party Respublika-Ata Zhurt (Fatherland) ranked second with 20.26% of the vote, the Central Election Commission chairman said.

The Kyrgyzstan party followed with 13.07% of the vote, Onuguu-Progress ranked fourth (9.39%), Bir Bol (Be Together) was fifth (8.59%) and Kyrgyzstan's oldest party Ata-Meken ranked last with 7.8% of the vote.

In all, 14 parties participated in the Kyrgyz parliamentary election on October 4.
