Four members of Islamic Movement of Turkestan jailed in Uzbekistan
TASHKENT. Nov 2 (Interfax) - A court in the Namangan region of Uzbekistan has sentenced four members of the Islamic Movement of Turkestan, formerly known as the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, to prison terms ranging from seven to eight years, local media reported citing court officials.
According to media reports, the four Uzbek citizens spent much time working in St. Petersburg where they were recruited by the Islamic Movement of Turkestan.
It was established at the trial that after they had become Islamic Movement of Turkestan members, they gave part of their wages to a special fund to support those taking part in hostilities.
Returning to Uzbekistan, the four propagated Islamic Movement of Turkestan ideas and called for going to fight in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syria.
