Kremlin has nothing to do with Serdyukov's appointment to Rostec position - Ivanov

ST. PETERSBURG. Nov 2 (Interfax) - The appointment of former Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov to a position in Rostec was a corporate decision, Kremlin Administration head Sergei Ivanov said at a press briefing in St. Petersburg.

"To my knowledge, neither the prosecution service nor the judicial authorities have claims against Serdyukov. As they say, 'if there is a no, let it be so'. And his appointment to Rostec is a corporate decision," Ivanov said.

"I hope you do not think that the Kremlin orders who should be appointed to which state corporation," the administration head said.

The appointment of Serdyukov as the Rostec aviation industry director was announced on October 29.

Serdyukov was the defense minister in the period from 2007 till 2012. He was formally charged with negligence in December 2013 but pleaded not guilty. The former minister, who was not facing prison time, was amnestied in 2014 and his criminal case was closed.
