Russian Emergency Situations Ministry plane brings 300 mobile electric generators to Crimea

MOSCOW. Nov 24 (Interfax) - An Ilyushin Il-76 plane of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry has airlifted 300 mobile electric generators to the Republic of Crimea, a representative of the ministry press service told Interfax on Tuesday.

"On the orders of Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov, an Ilyushin Il-76 plane has brought 300 electric generators, each [with a capacity] of six kilowatts, to the Republic of Crimea to provide for vital needs of the population amid the electric power deficit and rolling blackouts," the ministry representative said.

The cargo is being unloaded from the plane.

"The supplementary power sources will be delivered to the government of the Republic of Crimea to maintain stable and uninterrupted communication on the peninsula and support remote Crimean rural areas in most desperate need and Sevastopol," he said.

At the moment, every socially significant facility and infrastructure is connected to reserve power sources and provided with fuel.

The terminated power supply from Ukraine to Crimea has had no effect on the transport infrastructure of the peninsula: Simferopol airport, the Kerch ferry line and the railroad terminal are operating normally. Residential areas are supplied with electricity under the Krymenergo schedule.
