Eighty-five percent of Russians approve of Putin's work as president - poll
MOSCOW. Nov 25 (Interfax) - Eighty-five percent of Russians say they are satisfied with Vladimir Putin's performance as the president of Russia while 14% are dissatisfied, Interfax was told at the Levada Center following a November study.
Meanwhile, 61% said they approve of the work done by Dmitry Medvedev as the prime minister, while 38% said they do not approve of it.
In addition, 54% of respondents said they are satisfied with the work of the Russian government and 45% not satisfied.
The operations of the State Duma have the approval of 48% and disapproval of 50% of Russians.
The poll also showed that 58% of respondents are satisfied with the work of their governors (the mayor in Moscow) and 38% are not satisfied.
Respondents were also asked to name five-six politicians and public figures they trust most of all.
Vladimir Putin topped the list as he was named by 57% of respondents. He is followed by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu (26% of respondents said they trust him). Third place was taken by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov (18%).
They are followed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev (16%), Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov (10%), Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky (9%), Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya (5%), Patriarch Kirill and leader of A Just Russia party Sergei Mironov (4% each), and Kremlin administration chief Sergei Ivanov (3%).
Ten percent of respondents said they do not trust any Russian politicians and 15% said they are not interested in politics.
Fifty-five percent of respondents said the country is now developing in the right direction (61% in October and 55% in August and September). Twenty-seven percent believe the opposite and 18% are undecided.
The poll, which surveys 1,600 people living in 134 cities and towns in 46 regions of Russia, was conducted on November 20-23. The statistical error margin does not exceed 3.4%.
