Information on oil and reserves in Russia to change with new classification, but not extensively - Donskoi

MOSCOW. Dec 3 (Interfax) - Data on oil and gas in Russia will change due to the transition in 2016 to the new classification, but the changes are not extensive, Minister of Natural Resources Sergei Donskoy said.

According to the current classification, on the state balance of reserves, as of January 1, 2014, some 18.2 billion tonnes of oil and 49.5 trillion cubic meters of categories A, B, C1 of gas were accounted for.

"There will naturally be changes, but from the point of view of approbation, which we carried out, the changes will not be extensive," he said.

"The changes first and foremost are connected with the fact that economic indicators are better anchored, or, say, more attached to the current situation. Previously, the classification did not take economic indicators, estimates of profitable reserves into account, but more technological indicators, geological ones, like that. Now, in addition to geology and technology another component associated with the economy will be added. And it has an impact, but it will impact it in terms of clarifying what stocks will be placed on the balance," he said.
