Karabakh serviceman injured in Azerbaijani gunfire - Defense Ministry

YEREVAN. Dec 7 (Interfax) - A serviceman of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic's Defense Army has been injured in a breach of the truce by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Ministry has said.

According to its report, the incident happened late on Saturday night.

"Serviceman Varazdat Khachatryan, 20, has been injured. The hostile action will not go unpunished," the ministry said.

The ministry of the self-proclaimed republic also said that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces committed 180 violations of the truce in the small hours of Sunday.

"Over 3,500 shots were fired, including by use of grenade launchers, mortars and missile and artillery systems," the ministry said.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said, in turn, that the Armenian Armed Forces had breached the truce 105 times along the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops over the past day.

The Armenian side used 60mm and 82mm mortars and large-caliber machineguns, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

The shots were fired from both Armenian territory and "the occupied Azerbaijani lands," the report said.

Given those circumstances, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry delivered 110 strikes on hostile fire positions and trenches, the report said.
