U.S. Department of Agriculture maintains grain harvest forecast in Russia, export forecast
MOSCOW. Dec 10 (Interfax) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in a December report has maintained the earlier forecasts for the grain harvest in Russia and grain exports.
According to the report the wheat harvest will amount to 60.5 million tonnes, feed grain - 39 million tonnes.
This is 5 million tonnes higher than the July forecast of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The forecast for wheat exports was unchanged for the second month in a row and amounted to 23.5 million tonnes, the estimate for feed grain was 7.81 million tonnes.
The USDA also for the second month in row kept the forecasts for carryover stocks of grain as at July 1, 2016: wheat - 7.13 million tonnes, feed grain - 2.29 million tonnes.
U.S. specialists raised the forecast for global production of wheat to 734.93 million tonnes from 732.98 million tonnes in November. The estimate of the global harvest of feed grain was reduced to 1.269 billion tonnes from 1.27 million tonnes in November. The forecast for carryover stocks of wheat was raised from 227.3 million tonnes in November to 229.86 million tonnes in December, those of feed grain was reduced from 247.16 million tonnes to 246.94 million tonnes, respectively.
