Russian foreign minister: Russia, Kazakhstan discuss all issues openly

ASTANA. Dec 17 (Interfax) - Russia and Kazakhstan openly discuss any issues concerning the relations between the two countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We have no closed issues. We frankly discuss everything that is being talked about if these talks in any way concern the relations between Russia and Kazakhstan," Lavrov said, responding to a question as to whether or not he feels that the Western partners periodically make attempts to "drive a wedge of contradictions" between Russia and Kazakhstan.

The question was posed in an interview for the documentary film "First", which is devoted to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, on Channel One Eurasia.

"When our Kazakh friends have any questions about our positions, we tell them in detail about the motives of our actions. The same thing happens when we want to learn in detail about the positions, approaches and initiatives of Kazakhstan on the international scene and just in the region, where we have many common problems, challenges and threats," Lavrov said.
