Two Czech parliamentarians arrive in Donbas

KYIV. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Two Communist parliamentarians from the Czech Republic, Zdenek Ondracek and Stanislav Mackovik, arrived in the militia-controlled Donetsk on Thursday.

The Czech lower house members from the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia said the purpose of their three-day visit to the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic is to study the aftermath of the hostilities and the humanitarian situation and speak to local residents.

The program of the visit involves their meeting with the DPR council of lawyers, representatives of the regional authorities "and former prisoners-of-war who will deliver documentary material on war crimes by Ukraine."

The Czech Communist parliamentarians will also be shown a World War II museum and taken on a tour of damaged sites in Donetsk (the village of Oktyabrsky, the area around the Airport) and in Ilovaisk. At the end of the visit the two parliamentarians are expected to hold a press conference.

Ondracek is a member of a commission that oversees the Czech security service and has also been declared a persona non grata by Ukraine and banned from entering the country. On December 15, 2015, he tried to enter Ukraine via Boryspol Airport but was stopped and sent back.

Mackovik is a member of the Czech parliament's defense committee.
