Gazprom doesn't manage to win back last year's fall of exports: current supplies higher than 2015, lower than 2014
MOSCOW. Jan 18 (Interfax) - Gazprom boosted exports outside the CIS 29.4% in the first 16 days of January year-on-year to 7.75 billion cubic meters, Gazprom's press service reported, citing CEO Alexei Miller.
Gazprom's exports in January and February 2016 are also being impacted by the effect of low base, when a year ago the monopoly supplied the minimal volumes to Europe for six months in a row on a bid to discourage reverse gas supplies to Ukraine.
And if the company is able to beat the commercial results of 2015 (5.969 billion cubic meters) with, by several dozen percent, then the record figures for January 2014 (8.192 bcm) remain unsurpassable. It should be remembered that the weather in Europe in the first 16 days of 2014 was much milder than in this year.
Exports to Germany were up 42.1% year-on-year, the UK - up 170.2%, Italy - up 23.4%, Poland - up 58.1%, France - up 22.8% and Austria - up 75.5%, Gazprom said.
