Russian industrial production down 4.5% in Dec 2015, 3.4% in full year

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - Russian industrial output declined 4.5% in December 2015 compared with the same month in 2014, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported on Monday.

The decline for the full year was 3.4%, and in Q4 2015 it was 3.9%.

Compared with November, industrial output decline accelerated by 1 percentage point.

Analysts told Interfax in a consensus forecast at the end of December that they thought industry would plummet 4.2% in the month and 3.4% in the year.

The official forecast was for industry to fall 3.3% in the year.

Adjusted for seasonal and calendar factors, industry fell 0.2% in December, 0.6% in November and 0.2% in October.

Extractive industry output grew 0.1% year-on-year in December after falling 0.1% in November and rising 1.4% in October 0.8% in September. Extractive industry output grew 0.3% in the year.

Manufacturing output declined by 6.1% in December and 5.3% in November. This fell 5.4% in the year.

Output by the utilities sector (electricity, water and gas) fell 6.3% in December and 3.5% in November, and 1.6% in the full year.

Gas production grew 0.5% in December, 6.2% in November and 7.6% in October, but fell 2.6% in the year. Oil production grew 2.2% in December, 1.4% in November and 1.3% in the year. Coal production fell 1.5% in December but grew 4.5% in the year.

Power generation fell 3.3% in December but grew 0.3% in the year, and heat fell 7.4% and 4.5%, respectively.
