Rosselkhoznadzor finds GMO in feed from Denmark, Netherlands

MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Russian agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has detected genetically modified organisms (GMO) in feeds from Denmark and the Netherlands that were delivered to the Moscow region.

Laboratory tests found that the feed additives contained genetically modified soybean lines that are not declared or registered as ingredients.

The GMO was found in vegetable derived additives for domestic animals (HP 310) produced by Hamlet Protem A/S (Denmark) and animal- and vegetable-derived feed additives (Lactofeed 70) produced by DV Nutrition U.A. (Netherlands).

Information concerning the shipments has been duly forwarded to the main veterinary office in Moscow region for approval of the appropriate measures and entry into the Sirano state information system.

Russia prohibits the use of agricultural products containing GMO.
