Russian Security Council delegation in Thailand to discuss anti-terror, defense cooperation

BANGKOK. Feb 10 (Interfax) - Russian Security Council Secretary, Nikolai Patrushev, and Thailand's National Security Council Secretary General, Thawip Netniyom, met in Bangkok, on Wednesday, to discuss security.

The meeting focused on regional and international security issues, a spokesperson for the Russian Security Council told Interfax.

Patrushev's deputy, Yevgeny Lukyanov, and Netniyom, also co-chaired a meeting with the Russian-Thai working security group in Bangkok, the spokesperson said.

"The parties discussed a broad spectrum of Russian-Thai relations. In particular, they discussed broadening their contractual framework, defense-industrial cooperation, joint efforts to counter terrorism, religious extremism, transnational crime and cyber security threats," the spokesperson said.

The Russian delegation included senior officials from the Federal Security Service, the Interior Ministry, the Foreign Ministry, the Emergency Situations Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the Federal Drug Control Service, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation and the Russian Security Council.
