CSTO countries may help Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan in case of their request - Bordyuzha

MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax-AVN) - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is closely monitoring the situation in Afghanistan and threats, which may come from neighboring countries, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said at a press conference on Friday.

He was asked whether CSTO countries would help Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which were not CSTO members but bordered Afghanistan, if that was necessary. "If they ask for help, their request will be processed and relevant decisions will be made," he said.

"All CSTO member states are interested in stability in Central Asian region. They are doing everything to support this stability," the CSTO secretary general said.
