Syrian authorities promptly accepted ceasefire initiative approved by U.S., Russian presidents - Syrian presidential advisor
MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The Syrian president's political affairs advisor Busseina Shaaban has spoken of the Syrian authorities' reaction to the ceasefire initiative approved by the presidents of Russia and the United States.
"The Syrian government promptly accepted the agreement on ceasefire and the continued fight against terror groups, which has been reached by the U.S. and Russian presidents," she said at a meeting of experts in Moscow on Wednesday.
Hopefully, the U.S.-Russian agreement will be a step towards resolving the crisis, she said.
On February 22, Russia and the U.S. agreed on a truce in Syria effective from February 27.
