Russia cuts 2018 World Cup financing by 44 bln rubles
MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Financing for preparations for the football World Cup in 2018 has been reduced by nearly 44 billion rubles, according to a Russian government resolution, posted on the official legal information portal.
The document says changes have been made to the program of preparations for the championship, overall financing for which has been reduced from 664.1 billion rubles to 620.9 billion rubles.
Spending on the championship by the federal budget falls nearly 6 billion rubles to 330.6 billion rubles.
Financing by regional governments falls from 101.6 billion to 91.1 billion rubles.
The biggest cuts in financing are by companies, which will now cover 199.1 billion rubles of the costs, 27 billion rubles less than in the original version of the program, approved in June 2013.
