Ceasefire in Syria has taken effect, process ongoing, never to be easy from the start - Peskov
MOSCOW. Feb 29 (Interfax) - Russian presidential press officer Dmitry Peskov said the ceasefire in Syria has taken effect.
"It is important that the agreement was reached, the main steps have now been made in accordance with the agreement that has been reached, the process is ongoing, it was clear from the start that it will not be easy," Peskov told reporters on Monday.
He recalled the Russian military reports according to which "the ceasefire has taken effect."
"The heads of state - the presidents of Russia and the U.S. - emphasized from the very start that the way to a really lasting ceasefire will not be easy, it cannot be easy by definition due to the complexity of the situation around Syria and inside it," Peskov said.
