Operations of Russian aviation in Syria confirm high potential of aircraft industry - Rogozin
MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian aviation has demonstrated a high potential of the national aircraft industry in Syria, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has said.
"The combat employment of our aviation in Syria exhibits high skills and potential of our designers, engineers and industry workers which, being multiplied by the mastery and courage of our military pilots, produce the strategic effect," Rogozin said at a military aviation conference at the Sukhoi Design Bureau on Wednesday.
Aircraft designers are now focused on the creation of the fifth-generation fighter, T-50, Rogozin said. "The designers are working on the plane of a second stage; we are waiting for a new engine. Yet I would like to note a high potential of Russian aircraft industry. The entire country can see that," Rogozin said.
Sukhoi Su-24, Su-25, Su-30, Su-35 and Su-34 planes are now operating in Syria, he said. "Indeed, we hope that the next projects will be efficient and successful, and we will be proud of them," the deputy prime minister said.
