Oil producing countries to meet March 20 - April 1 in Russia, Doha or Vienna
MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - The oil producing countries, both OPEC members and nonmembers, will hold a meeting sometime between March 20 and April 1, Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Rossiya 24 television.
The venue for the meeting has not been pinpointed yet. It might be held in Russia or in Vienna or Doha.
"For the time being different proposals are being voiced, from March 20 to April 1. Options for meeting in Doha, Vienna or Russia are being examined," he said. "But for now no final decision on a meeting have been made," Novak said.
Russia is ready to host the meeting on its territory, Novak said. "As concerns us, we are ready to accept our colleagues both from OPEC and those that are not from OPEC," he said.
Novak said that more than 15 oil producing countries already supported the initiative on the freeze of oil production at the level of January, but Russia will continue to work on stabilizing the situation on the global oil market and with other oil producing countries.
