Karasin-Abashidze meeting scheduled for March 16
MOSCOW/TBILISI. March 7 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin is planning to meet with the Georgian Prime Minister's Special Representative for Russia Relations, Zurab Abashidze, in Prague on March 16; a meeting between the two countries' foreign ministers is not on the agenda.
"This is yet another of our routine meetings, no emergency issues will be discussed. We will consider a whole host of practical issues concerning our bilateral relations," Karasin told Interfax when asked which topics will be discussed in Prague and whether a possible meeting between the Russian and Georgian foreign ministers was on the agenda.
For his part, Abashidze told reporters that there will be no discussion of preparations for a Prague summit either. "There is no discussion at this stage of some preparations for a meeting between the two countries' leaders," he said.
"Such a meeting is necessary and expedient if it brings even a small part of concrete results on the conflict regions," Abashidze added.
