Fighting underway near Yasynuvata in Donbas

DONETSK. March 8 (Interfax) - Mortars and small arms were fired on Tuesday evening near the Yasynuvata checkpoint in Donbas, an Interfax correspondent reported from the scene. The road leading toward Horlivka has been closed to traffic.

Earlier the Donetsk news agency said that a group of Russian journalists had come under fire near Yasynuvata in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.

DPR defense representative Eduard Basurin said on Tuesday that the situation on the road between Yasynuvata and Horlivka remained tense, with the militia of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) trying to push the Ukrainian troops towards the contact line designated by the Minsk agreements.

Earlier reports citing a DPR military source said that the Ukrainian troops on Monday occupied a site in the buffer zone near the Yasynuvata-Horlivka highway and were shelling civilian transport vehicles.

Meanwhile, the headquarters of the Kyiv-led military operation in Donbas has denied that the Ukrainian troops had occupied a site in the buffer zone near the Yasynuvata-Horlivka highway and were shelling civilian transport vehicles.
