Situation in Syria most complicated in Aleppo - Russian defense ministry
HMEIMIM, Latakia, Syria. March 10 (Interfax) - Eight ceasefire violations have been recorded in Syria since midnight, said Lt. Gen. Sergei Kuralenko, head of the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring sides in Syria.
"Five in Aleppo, and one each in Daraa, Damascus and Idlib," he told reporters on Thursday.
Currently, the most complicated situation is in Aleppo, the general said.
In Aleppo, "militants from Liwa Sultan Murad, Firqa 16 and Ahrar ash-Sham fired mortars against the Sheikh-Maqsood neighborhood, four times," Kuralenko said.
"Furthermore, improvised artillery systems were used in strikes against the Maraanaz and Ayn Daqna neighborhoods," he said.
The town of Fua (Idlib province) besieged by Jabhat an-Nusra, comes under regular intense artillery shelling. "The humanitarian situation in this town is catastrophic. There is no food, no medication. Children, especially infants, women, the elderly and the disabled must be evacuated from the blockaded enclave," the general said.
