FSB does not find 'illegal actions' in Kadyrov's video featuring opposition members in rifle scope - Kasyanov
MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Mikhail Kasyanov, former Russian Prime Minister and chairman of the opposition party PARNAS, said the Federal Security Service had processed his request for opening a criminal case on a video featuring opposition members in a rifle scope, posted in the Instagram account of Chechnya head Ramzan Kadyrov.
"We have finally received a response to our statement about the crime, which was filed with the FSB in connection with the video featuring me in a rifle scope, posted by Russian citizen Kadyrov in his Instagram account on January 31, 2016," Kasyanov wrote on Facebook.
"The response of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation to the statement about those actions of Kadyrov was very simple: 'this video is free of signs of any illegal actions," Kasyanov said.
The politician said the decision was politically motivated.
The video featuring PARNAS opposition party chairman Mikhail Kasyanov in a rifle scope was published in Kadyrov's Instagram account with a caption, "Kasyanov goes to Strasbourg for money for Russian opposition. Those who did not understand will!" The video also depicted Vladimir Kara-Murza Jr., journalist, PARNAS deputy chairman and Open Russia coordinator.
On February 3, Kasyanov and Kara-Murza demanded that the law enforcement authorities open a criminal inquiry against Chechnya head Ramzan Kadyrov in connection with the video posted on Instagram. "A statement was filed with the FSB today to demand the opening of a criminal inquiry into this case," lawyer Vadim Prokhorov told Interfax.
