Second World Grain Forum might be held in Sochi Sept 30-Oct 1

MOSCOW. March 16 (Interfax) - The second World Grain Forum might be held from September 30 to October 1, 2016 as part of the 15th Sochi International Investment Forum.

Russia's Agriculture Ministry submitted such a proposal at a meeting of the organizing committee for the forum, a source on the government's economic team told Interfax.

The business program of the forum is expected to be compiled after a decision is made on the date and time of the plenary session of the Sochi-2016 Investment Forum.

However, the ministry does not rule out that some of the business meetings within the context of the Grain Forum might be held on October 2.

The first World Grain Forum was held in June 2009 in St. Petersburg. One of the main issues at that forum was the intention of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan to form a Black Sea pool of grain exporters to pursue a coordinated policy on the world market. However, this decision was never implemented.

A second forum was planned for 2013, but was then postponed.
