New energy minister of Kazakhstan appointed

ASTANA. March 25 (Interfax) - Kanat Bozumbayev, formerly the head of the Pavlodar regional administration, has been appointed Kazakhstan's Energy Minister.

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the relevant order, says a report posted on the presidential website.

"To appoint Bozumbayev Kanat Aldabergenovich the Energy Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan upon removing him from the office of the Pavlodar regional akim," the order says.

Earlier on Friday, the chief of state removed Energy Minister Vladimir Shkolnik from office.

Bozumbayev, 47, had been in charge of the Pavlodar region since December 20, 2013.

Nazarbayev appointed Bulat Bakauov, who had been the akim of the city of Pavlodar since April 2014, head of the Pavlodar regional authorities on Friday.
