Russian center for reconciliation delivers over 19 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Syrian regions - Gen. Kuralenko

HMEIMIM (Latakia, Syria). March 25 (Interfax) - Humanitarian aid from Russia has been delivered to more than 30 populated areas in different Syrian provinces since the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring sides in Syria began its operation, Lt. Gen. Sergei Kuralenko, head of the Center, told reporters on Friday.

"In the past week, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring sides in Syria delivered more than 19 tonnes of humanitarian aid to populated areas in the provinces of Damascus, Hama and Homs. I would like to point out that humanitarian cargoes for the residents of the Hama province were repeatedly delivered by us under fire from the militants," Kuralenko said.

In total, during the period that the Center has been in operation, Russian humanitarian aid was delivered to, and distributed among, local residents in 31 populated areas in the provinces of Damascus, Hama and Homs, he said.

The Russian military delivered 3.8 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the populated area of Yalda, the Damascus province, over the past 24 hours, the Russian center for reconciliation said, in its bulletin published on the Russian Defense Ministry website on Friday.
