Tests of three types of heavy drones launched in Russia - source

SANTIAGO (Chile). March 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Specialists of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) have started to test long-range assault unmanned aerial vehicles, a source in the Russian delegation to the FIDAE-2016 International Air and Space Fair in Santiago told reporters on Thursday.

"These are drones of three projects in the size of three, five and ten tonnes," the source, who represents the Russian defense industry, said.

"The craft are at different degrees of readiness: some of them have already flown, while others are preparing for their first flight," he added.

"The Defense Ministry has already set the topics, and work is being conducted on them as a priority. Demonstrators have already been created, and their flights have confirmed that the adopted decisions are correct. Product samples have been made based on these results," the expert said.

The source said he is speaking about unmanned aerial vehicles that are manufactured by UAC enterprises.
