Azerbaijan, Russia have potential for enhancing trade and economic cooperation - Aliyev

BAKU. April 8 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev notes a good potential for boosting trade and economic cooperation with Russia despite a decline in bilateral trade.

"We have very good dynamics in many fields. Though [bilateral] trade has slightly declined for objective reasons, the potential exists for stepping up cooperation in trade and the economic, energy and transport fields," Aliyev said at talks with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in the expanded format on Friday.

Aliyev also noted the importance of humanitarian cooperation. "Cooperation in the humanitarian field has very good prospects and good results. In general, this is a basis of our relations," the president said.
