Ukraine's new PM vows to speed up visa-free travel deal with EU
KYIV. April 20 (Interfax) - The new Ukrainian government will do everything in its power to speed up the process of securing visa-free travel with the European Union, Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said.
"Good news! The European Commission filed a legislative proposal regarding visa-free travel for Ukraine. Approximately a month ago, there was a difficult vote in the Verkhovna Rada, but at the time we were able to pass all of the necessary laws. There were those who attempted to disrupt that voting. There were skeptics who said we would still get no positive decision from the EU. But today, our partners published a conclusion confirming that Ukraine has met all of the necessary conditions and reached progress in reforms," Groysman wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.
"Now it is up to the European Parliament. On the path towards visa-free travel with the EU, Ukraine will continue the painstaking diplomatic work, and the new government will do everything in its power to speed up this process, and make EU trips easier for Ukrainians within a short period of time," Groysman wrote.
It was reported that, on April 20, the EC proposed to the European Parliament and the EU Council that the visa requirement for Ukrainian citizens be scrapped.
