Armenia accuses Azerbaijan of firing mortars and sniper rifles at border
YEREVAN. April 22 (Interfax) - The Azerbaijani Armed Forces committed 27 truce violations on the state border with Armenia overnight into Friday, the press service of the Armenian Defense Ministry has said.
According to its report, Azerbaijani forces fired weapons of different calibers and sniper rifles in the direction of Armenian outposts at the northeastern sector of the border. They were mostly random strikes, it said.
"In addition to this, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan used 60mm mortars (six shells were fired), 82mm mortars (three shells) and ANC-17 grenade launchers (two projectiles). The Armed Forces of Armenia showed restraint and took response measures only when it was absolutely necessary. The border situation is totally under control," the Armenian Defense Ministry said.
