Turkey should recognize 1915 Armenian genocide - Armenia's PM

YEREVAN. April 24 (Interfax) - Armenia will continue to seek international recognition of the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan has said.

"The leadership of Turkey ought to think about recognizing the truth. And the sooner they do it, the better. The international community, for its part, should also condemn the first genocide of the 20th century in order to prevent genocides in the future. Our struggle will continue," he told reporters on Sunday.

Abrahamyan also noted that, when remembering the victims of the Armenian genocide, "we ought to look into the future and strengthen our homeland and the second Armenian state - Artsakh [the Armenian name for Nagorno-Karabakh]."
