Armenian military presence in Karabakh main problem in conflict settlement - Baku
BAKU. April 26 (Interfax) - The presence of the Armenian Armed Forces in the occupied Azerbaijani lands has been hindering the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov has said.
"The presence of the Armenian Armed Forces in the occupied Azerbaijani territories is the main problem, because of which the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has not been resolved. Four resolutions of the UN Security Council bind Armenia to withdraw its troops from the occupied Azerbaijani territories," Khalafov said at a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Simas Magalhaes.
In his words, other international organizations share this opinion.
Magalhaes expressed hope that the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict would be resolved peacefully, in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
He also said he was satisfied with his attendance at the 7th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations in Baku.
Magalhaes said that the planned visit of the Brazilian foreign minister to Azerbaijan would broaden cooperation. In his words, the sides will enter into a number of agreements on culture, tourism and education, including a memorandum of mutual understanding between diplomatic academies of the two countries, during the Brazilian minister's visit to Azerbaijan.
