Pakistani defense minister highly values Russia's role in establishing peace in Middle East

MOSCOW. April 27 (Interfax) - Russia plays a crucial role in establishing peace in Syria and the entire Middle East, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif told reporters.

"International efforts, joint efforts of the international community are needed to restore peace in various hotbeds, which have emerged in the Middle East over the past few years, such as Iraq, Syria, Yemen. And the Russian Federation plays a decisive role in this," Asif said after a meeting with Russian Defense Minister Gen. of the Army Sergei Shoigu.

Asif said that he valued Russia's role in the fight against terrorism on the world arena and in the region.

"Russia plays an important role in resolving the Syria crisis. Russia's role is quite decisive and significant in establishing peace in Syria, and the Middle East," the Pakistani minister also said.
