Moldovan ministries to include officials in charge of Transdniestria settlement process
CHISINAU. April 28 (Interfax) - The Moldovan government decided at a meeting on Thursday that each government ministry would include an official responsible for Transdniestria settlement policy, the government said in a directive.
In particular, one of the deputy ministers and a leading official in each ministry would be in charge of this problem.
"At the request of the deputy prime minister for reintegration or the Reintegration Bureau in the State Chancellery, the heads of the ministries will have to facilitate the said officials' work to support the Bureau in drawing up materials essential for the negotiating process," it said.
"In addition, they will take part in meetings of sector working groups to promote a policy of building confidence between the two banks of the Dniester and provide the necessary expertise in drawing up materials on issues within their purview," it said.
Speaking earlier at a parliamentary foreign policy commission meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur criticized the fact that officials in various government institutions adhered to different positions on the Transdniestria settlement process.
"In a situation where the Transdniestria settlement process is among the government's priorities, we should act appropriately. We need to develop a common policy and promote it at the state level. The Reintegration Bureau should have a relevant mandate, and all government institutions should follow this policy," Galbur said.
