Russian-U.S. center for Syria truce monitoring to be urgently set up in Geneva - Lavrov

MOSCOW. May 3 (Interfax) - A Russian-U.S. center for promptly responding to truce violations in Syria will be established in Geneva over the coming days, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

"Our efforts made jointly with our American partners are aimed at expanding the number of cessation of hostilities regime participants and at broadening this regime. Cooperation between the military is developing ... Interaction between the military is taking on a direct nature in light of the creation in Geneva over the next few days of a joint Russian-American center for promptly responding to truce violations," he told a press conference in Moscow.

"We are grateful to the UN for helping us in Geneva to resolve logistics issues surrounding the creation of such a Russian-American center, where the two countries' military will discuss face to face the concrete development of the situation on the 'ground'," the Russian minister said.
