"Regime of quiet" extended for two days in Aleppo - Gen. Konashenkov

HMEIMIM. May 5 (Interfax) - The "regime of quiet" in the city of Aleppo has been extended for 48 hours, until midnight of May 6, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Gen. Igor Konashenkov has said.

In his words, the "regime of quiet" was extended until midnight of May 5 in the Damascus suburb of Eastern Ghouta and in the north of the Latakia province.

"During a telephone conversation between heads of the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides and the U.S. military-political analysis center in Amman (Jordan), the American side supported the Russian proposal to again put into place the "regime of quiet" in Eastern Ghouta and northern Latakia for 24 hours (until midnight of May 5) and to extend for 48 hours (until midnight of May 6) "the regime of quiet" in the city of Aleppo," the general said.
